Forenex Summer Courses

Over the last week the students have been working on a final performance which today they present to the other groups.  This is always a lot of fun and an excellent way to motivate teens to use English in a different and creative way.

This year there was a mix of everything; original songs, TV shows, drama and plenty of action!  Here are some of the groups performing…

 

 

 

  

¡Buenos días!

¡Otro día de sol! Esto es un lujo… Deportes, deportes y más deportes. Hemos reorganizado grupos y hemos aprovechado el buen tiempo, que dicen las malas lenguas que cambiará pronto.

Pero hoy no nos vamos a centrar en eso sino en el tema estrella: ¡FUROR! Desde los recreos, empezamos las batallas entre chicos y chicas. El canto más original, el grupo que más se oiga, la rima más graciosa… ¡Hay que entrenarse porque la batalla ser¡ muy dura!

 

 

 

Llega la noche. Nos reunimos con nuestro bando: chicas de blanco con cara pintada de negro, dos trenzas y ramas de camuflaje en el pelo; chicos de negro con cara negra y trazas de guerreros. ¡Al ataqueeeeeee!

Los chicos han estado muy fuertes en los rituales, pero las chicas siempre nos sabemos más canciones y bailes… El juez tendrá una resolución mañana. ¿Cuál será el resultado? Por lo pronto, dormiremos orgullosos de haberlo dado todo. ¡Uh-uh, ah-ah!

The votes are in and have been counted. Each classroom was admired for the Walls Talk competition, the work of each and every student and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. An echo of applause has sounded for all students as they gathered for a special assembly today. With the classrooms all looking so good it was a difficult decision, even after careful deliberation there could not be only one winner. Congratulations to all for such a tremendous effort.
Special congratulations for Brian and his class. Third Place was awarded Julia’s class. Second Place was awarded to Stephanie’s class. And First Place Goes To… Shavon’s class.

After the announcement of the winners one of the teachers provided a guitar and we all joined in singing a song by Jason Mraz - I’m Yours.

Acabamos el fin de semana en Rialta… ¡con visitas de padres! Nos ha hecho mucha ilusión recibiros, tanto si eran nuestros papás como si eran los de nuestros amigos. Así nos vamos conociendo todos y veis quiénes son los culpables de que estemos pasando un verano alucinante, a pesar de los pequeños contratiempos

Los que no hemos tenido visita hemos pasado el día de excursión por Santiago de Compostela. ¡Nos ha hecho un día fantástico! Menos mal que siempre llevamos la crema del sol por si las moscas.

Y por la noche, un poco de rutina y un mucho de fiesta… Somos así de chulos y como no queremos perdernos ninguna fiesta hemos saltado unos meses para celebrar nuestra propia Nochevieja, con campanadas y todo.

¡Prontito nos veremos! Pero aún queda mucho por hacer… ¡un beso y hasta mañana!

It was wonderful to meet so many family members and friends today in La Coruña. Despite many sad farewells to friends who will be missed, there was also many moments of joy as parents and kids got to finally see each other in person again after two weeks apart. For those of you who couldn’t make it, here are some photos of the day…

Then it’s time to meet the parents and talk about the progress their children have made during the course and visit the classrooms to see the wonderful work the groups have done so far.  We hope you liked the slide shows we had prepared!

Despues de unos dí­as realmente “inolvidables”, volvemos con la más rabiosa actualidad del Coruña Summer Camp. Estamos a sábado, y no hay mejor forma de empezar  la jornada que plasmando todos nuestros conocimientos adquiridos de inglés en un test.

Por la tarde, mirar al cielo nos pone un poco tristones: tenemos que cambiar las actividades de playa por una tarde de paseo por La Coruña. Comenzamos por una visita al Museo Arqueológico de La Coruña, ubicado en el Castillo de San Antón, una fortaleza chulísima donde hemos podido ver armas antiguas y todo tipo de objetos de todas las Épocas de la Antigüedad.

A la vuelta, volvían a pintar bastos con la meteorología, pero nuestros monitores, capitaneados por Bena, Perolo, Pablo e Iván, nos han demostrado que pueden con todo, incluso con las nubes gallegas. Se han desmarcado una pedazo FERIA DE ABRIL que no podía llegar en mejor momento. Espectáculo taurino, toro mecánico, tabla de surf, futbolín humano y toda clase de cachivaches y atracciones hinchables, que nos ha permitido pasar una noche llena de risas (que ya tocaba!!!) y disfrutar de este fiestón.

Sabed los que os habéis marchado que os echaremos muchísimo de menos. Hoy mismo lo hemos hecho. ¡Pero el curso sigue y tenemos que exprimir los pocos días que nos quedan aquí!

Por muchos contratiempos que sucedan, unidos y con ilusión… ¡no habrá quien nos pueda parar! ¡A por la nueva semanaaaaaaa!!

Have we progressed this week?  For almost everyone, the answer is YES!  the results are in and the pass rate is high.  The teachers would like to give a special mention to some of those star students who have made such a big effort this week.  Keep up the good work guys!

These students from Cal and Erin’s class were some of the highest in their class. Well Done!

The Walls Talk competition has been running all week.  The objective is for each class to showcase their best work and turn the empty classrooms into stimulating learning environments.  Some of the groups this year have chosen a theme and been really creative.  You can find everything from pirates to planets and tropical islands.

In Brian’s class we created life-size body cut-outs and personal profiles of all the members of the group.  Around the walls you can find a growing class dictionary which we add to each day.

In Annie’s class we have created 3D projects advertising the hotels we designed.  We have also created our own grammar reference wall with the rules and examples of the new things we learn.

In Stephanie’s class we chose a tropical theme. We have our beach hut in the corner with some of our work displayed on the clothesline, our grammar and vocabulary are also spread through both sky and ocean, in the clouds and on the fishes.

In David’s class we divided into house teams and designed our own crests, this was to help keep track of our scores throughout the week. We also use a ‘Facebook’ wall where we can write our messages in the third person and we have our favorite song lyrics on the walls, so now we can sing along!

Siguen pasando los dia en Rialta, y ya todos nosotros conocemos todas las actividades. Hoy, en O Burgo, hemos disfrutado, además de los kayaks y del frogby, de unos aparatos llamados Trikkles. Os explico: son una especie de triciclos, que se controlan con el “culete” y que frenan con los pedales. Hemos estado haciendo un recorrido por un carril-bici, siempre acompañados por nuestro monitor, en fila de a uno, y sin adelantar. La verdad, todos aquellos con los que nos cruzabamos, se quedaban sorprendidos y se giraban para vernos. Son tan modernos que parecíamos el Gran Circo de la F1 !!!

Y llega la fiesta del dia… FIESTA PIJA !!!! El glamour se apodera de la disco. Primeras marcas, alta costura y perfumes de lujo dan un aire exclusivo a nuestro “photo call”. La música mas “in” suena en la pista de baile, moviendonos todos divinos de la muerte. Lo estamos pasando de miedo, y cada día son más los amigos y amigas con los que puedo charlar y repasar las noticias del curso.

Mañana nos vemos otra vez por aquí… CHAAOOOOOO !!!!
